Proto was quite interested in the paint set he'd obtained from the Nexus vending machine. He was debating the safety of trying it out, though he needed a surface to paint on.
Not that anyone had warned him about Nexus LOL yet. Poor Proto. He was going to be in for a bit of a shock when he could actually step into the scenery. |

Well, the Nexus passed inspection so far. Odd, but safe, as far as he could tell. Yes, Proto was outside the range of the anti-violence field, well out of it. But he figured there was nothing he couldn't handle around here, even in this flat stretch of tall-grassed plains.
"Oh great, I'm lost." He surveyed the area. "...Hello? Anyone? Anyone at all willing to help a lost traveler?"
He then plunked down on the ground to check his internal (useless) GPS, red helmet fin sticking up over the grass. |

Proto wasn't actually mad at Chaud at all. No, definitely not. Why would he be? He'd only been going to an odd off-world place, away from any monitoring he could have done, for some time now. Without letting his Navi take a look first.
The problem was, he didn't know how he was going to get there. Was there a net access route to this 'Nexus'? He decided to try it while Chaud was sleeping. Even he couldn't get into trouble asleep.
So he made his way to the area on the net correspondent to the place he'd pulled out of Chaud's mind. Sure enough, there was an odd-looking portal that resembled nothing so much as the ones the Darkloids used to transfer between the net and Dimensional Areas. He shuddered, then went through.
And found himself in the real world.
Stunned, Proto wandered around a bit, taking in the sights. Then he sat down on a seemingly-randomly placed couch, taking everything in. Another world...
Well, he'd just have to take a look a see what was here.

Proto hummed idly to himself as he puttered around the kitchen. As far as he was concerned, most things were going right at the moment. Well, he still had to confront Blues about the Dark Chip thing, but that was an unpleasantness best left for another time.
He and Chaud had spent quite the...active...night together. After they had woken up and had breakfast, Chaud had left, presumeably to find a job. Though he had taken his teleporter.
It was now nearly noon and he was fixing himself a snack/lunch. Sighing, he idly started pulling ingredients out of the fridge. |

The search for housing had begun. After pulling Chaud out of the net in the morning and in a considerably better mood than he had been the previous one, Proto had decided they couldn't really wait any longer, so he had gone to get a newspaper to check the local listings. No one paid much attention to a Navi in the real world--apparently Netto's Navi, whatever his name was, went out in armor often enough--so he and Chaud were currently in the process of browsing the housing listings.
"Here's one," he circled a selection with the highlighter he was holding. "'Spacious two-bedroom apartment, near park and convenient shopping. Dentown.'"

Proto teleported into the apartment complex network, Chaud still slung over his shoulder. His visit to the Nexus had obviously produced the teen, but in very bad emotional shape. He didn't know what ghosts of the past were bothering him, but he wanted to put that to rest, now. The earlier attack had showed that there were Darkloids about, and they couldn't remain casual for long. Chaud needed someone to pull him together, and that happened to be Proto's job description. He could only hope the imminent threat would jog him out of it, although Proto hadn't seen him this distraught in ages.
He laid Chaud down carefully, hovering over him somewhat cautiously.
"it's okay," he murmured. "You're safe now. Now tell me what happened so I can help you." |

...I have no clue what I'm going to do now.
Chaud and I are lost between worlds somewhere. He was badly injured when we got here, but quite a few people helped us out and we got him to a hospital. Enzan tried to have him killed, but thankfully, an alternate version of Chaud and one of me (he's human!) showed up and put a stop to it. Apparently he wanted the link severed, although I bet there's something else he could have done. I don't trust that boy. I think I'll have to keep an eye on him so he doesn't hurt Chaud.
I have no idea why we couldn't have just done this from the start. It seemed to have worked exactly as they wanted. I'd say I hope we never see them again, but Chaud wants to cling to Enzan as he's one of the few people left alive from our world. I only hope he knows what he's getting into. He's also being awfully hard on himself.
I had thought the young Enzan was all right, but apparently not. He used the information I gave him on Chaud to hurt him... I'm sure he wasn't aware I could hear through our Synchro link. I'll definitely have to have a talk with him when I cool down a little. That was unacceptable.
Currently though, we are looking for a place to stay. I have no doubt Chaud will want to stay in whichever world Enzan is in. I don't quite understand why. He consistantly hides his feelings regarding him from me.
...It can't be what I think it is. That would be terrible. Enzan would hurt him so badly even I couldn't fix it.
If he lays a hand on Chaud, I don't care what's stopping me. I'll break through it and hurt him that badly. I know Blues would be devastated, but he's only a friend. Chaud is everything to me. I can't let him go, even if he doesn't love me back. |
